Astronaut Patch

This unique piece is the result of a brief meeting in Modena with Paolo Nespoli, a "retired" astronaut, to whom we had the pleasure of giving the "SandStorm" t-shirt equipped with the "AstroGold" patch on the occasion of the environmental sustainability festival.
Very helpful, he shared his incredible experiences with those present.
He very humbly defines himself as a space metalworker and his rich palmares boasts the following among many successes: On 23 October 2007 he left with the Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-120, as mission specialist (Hesperia mission for ESA) .
During the mission he is responsible for coordinating extravehicular activities (so-called "spacewalks").
On 15 December 2010 he returned to the International Space Station with the Soyuz TMA-20 for the MagISStra mission of the ASE, the European space agency, as a flight engineer.
After 157 days spent aboard the International Space Station, on May 23, 2011 at 4:27 am Italian time he returned to Earth aboard the Soyuz, landing in the steppes of Kazakhstan and successfully concluding Expedition 27.
On 28 July 2017 Paolo Nespoli returns to space for the third time, leaving from Baikonur at 5.41pm, Italian time, aboard the Soyuz MS-05 towards the International Space Station.
At 11.54pm, Italian time, the Soyuz capsule docks and finally at 1.57am, Italian time, Nespoli enters the station.
On 14 December 2017 at 9.27 am, Italian time, after 139 days on the ISS Nespoli lands aboard the Soyuz MS-05 in the steppe of Kazakhstan.
In total, in the three missions of 2007, 2010-2011 and 2017 Paolo Nespoli remained in space for 313 days, 2 hours and 36 minutes.
Since 2023 he has taught the subject Human Spaceflight and Operations at the Polytechnic University of Milan in the Space Engineering course.
As a child his dream was to skid with the rover on the moon, and it is a source of pride for Italy and for the whole world: it represents a testimony of commitment and dedication to achieving one's dreams.
